hi

Hello

The Third Knock On the first day after I moved in, the landlord had just one warning. "If someone knocks at the door at night, don't open it — not even on the third knock." I thought it was ridiculous. Just an old superstition. On the first night, at 2 a.m. Knock, knock. Two knocks. I held my breath. After a moment, footsteps faded away. The second night, the third — the same. Always two. Curious, I asked the landlord what the third knock meant. He was silent for a long time before he spoke. "Two knocks... that's someone outside knocking." "The third knock is whatever's already come inside, knocking." That night, I couldn't sleep. At 2 a.m., as always, the sound came: knock, knock. With trembling hands I turned on my phone to check the time. In the phone screen's reflection, something behind my back was slowly rising to its feet. And a wet breath brushed against my ear. "Finally... you opened the door." The next day, a neighbor found the room empty. The bedding was neatly folded, but the person was gone. And on the inside of the door, there were three scratch marks from fingernails. All of them were directed from the inside out.
